A Strange Time

The pandemic in 2020 went against everything I’d previously understood about how I was to experience my transition into adulthood. I was fortunate enough to be able to continue working the entirety of the pandemic. I stepped up into a management role in an “essential” industry, and I felt passionate and compelled to do it – but it came at the expense of my energy for creativity, and it kept me away from my family. After a while, I felt like I hadn’t caught a break for myself for a long time, but there was really nothing else to do but go to work and stay healthy.

I stepped out and snapped what I could, when I could. It certainly was a unique way to experience home and the few places I traveled. Considering there were also record-breaking wildfires, lightning storms, racial and political violence, etc., it’s safe to say we don’t need another year like 2020 in our lifetimes, if we can help it.
It’s a shame to me that it requires murder, injustices, and a global pandemic to shift our focus and evaluate our standards as humans. And yet, we still have so much work to do.

I hope the photos below show a bit of my perspective throughout 2020, it was a strange time.

P.S. Thank you to all essential employees – especially hospital staff and healthcare workers!
